Medicare and Private Health Rebates on the spot

Referrals, appointments and Enquiries

Many of our clients are referred to us by their GP or another health professional, but you do not need a referral to see a psychologist.

It is common to feel uncertain or anxious about making an initial appointment. Many people feel more relaxed after speaking with us by phone, or once they have attended their initial session. Please let us know if you have any specific concerns that you wish to discuss before making an appointment.

Our fees remain considerably lower than those set by the Australian Psychological Society,
Please note that payment is to be made on the day of service, except for approved Work Cover and CTP claims where we may bill the Insurer directly.


At Psychologists Southern Sydney if you receive a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP (Psychiatrist or Paediatrician) prior to seeing a registered psychologist you are entitled to a Medicare Rebate.

Your Mental Health Care Plan or MHCP from your GP entitles you for up to ten counselling sessions per calendar year. After receiving the referral you are entitled to choose which psychologist you would like to see. At PSS we can claim your rebate on the spot once you have paid

If you have already registered your bank account details with Medicare, we can usually process your Medicare rebate on the spot and transfer the funds directly into your bank account or you can take the invoice and claim at Medicare. When booking a session please tell us if you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP

Private Health Cover

Psychologists Southern Sydney is registered with the major private health insurance organisations. If your health fund covers you for sessions with a registered psychologist, we can usually claim your rebate after the session through our Hicaps terminal otherwise we can give you the paid receipt to claim through your health fund online, by mail or at a branch.
